Experience Ukulele Project
Grades 3rd -5th gradeÂ
In 3rd and 5th grade we began a ukulele unit before closing and 4th grade was going to get to it after recorders. Here are some self-guided ukulele learning and practicing links as well as links to play alongs. There are so many play alongs and entire ukulele books on pdf all over the internet. Be mindful, I have not checked each one for school friendliness, I will just post ones we've enjoyed in class.
Ukulele Links
Please share with Mrs. Llyr what you've enjoyed and learned on ukulele.
Just starting to learn
This playlist begins with just 1 chord songs and then builds to 2 chords a song. This is where to begin. This is where 3rd grade was working on.
Practicing Chord Changes
This is great playlist for focusing on chord changes. Smoothly changing chords w/o pausing is key to successful ukulele practice. However be kind and gentle to yourself and STICK WITH IT. It takes a lot of time to develop that coordination and finger strength.
Bernadette teaches ukulele
She explains "how to" really well, so if a student needs a reminder on how to do something or maybe they want to learn a new skill; here is that playlist.
Ukulele Playalongs
Ukulaliens
This playlist features songs at a very easy level.
Songs
Counting Stars Radioactive Thunder Riptide Somewhere Over the Rainbow Count On Me Stand By Me Surfin' USA Hound Dog Johnny B Goode
This is just the very beginning of all the play alongs available online. Have Fun!
Remember if you don't know all the chords in a song skip the ones that are "not yet" and just go for the ones you know. Work at practicing just chords and strumming too without play alongs.
